Assessment of CALIOP-Derived CCN Concentrations by In Situ Surface Measurements

چکیده

The satellite-based cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) proxies used to quantify the aerosol-cloud interactions (ACIs) are column integrated and do not guarantee vertical co-location of aerosols clouds. This has encouraged use height-resolved measurements spaceborne lidars for ACI studies led advancements in lidar-based CCN retrieval algorithms. In this study, we present a comparison between number concentration (nCCN) derived from ground-based situ lidar cloud-aerosol with orthogonal polarization (CALIOP) measurements. On analysing their monthly time series, found that about 88% CALIOP nCCN estimates remained within factor 1.5 Overall, were good agreement normalized mean error 71%, bias 39% correlation coefficient 0.68. Based on our results, point out necessary measures should be considered global retrieval. Our results show competence compiling height- type-resolved dataset studies.

In-Situ Measurements of Surface Reflection Properties

In order to characterize surfaces with respect to their sound reflecting properties, the absorption and the scattering or diffusion coefficient can currently be measured under standardized laboratory conditions. However it is questionable whether the data from measurements performed under such laboratory conditions can be used to accurately model the actual sound field in rooms. Additionally, i...

Size-resolved CCN measurements

We present a method to investigate cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) concentrations and activation efficiencies as a function of two independent variables, aerosol particle size and water vapor supersaturation. To date, most ambient CCN measurements have been made as the integral (total) CCN concentration as a function of water vapor su-5 persaturation only. However, since CCN properties of aeros...

Managing in situ gold concentrations in placers

In studying of the in situ gravitational concentration process part feature for placer, the technological ability to transform the in situ massif placer structure is evident. The two main processes involved in altering the massif in situ have been examined and outlined in detail. The in situ disintegration of massif material results in a new massif gravitational stratification structure. Regula...

Comparison of Modis and Misr-derived Surface Albedo with in Situ Measurements in Greenland

Accurate estimation of snow albedo is essential for monitoring the state of the cryosphere. The high albedo of snow-covered surfaces allows little energy to be absorbed by the snowpack. However, as snow ages and/or begins to melt the albedo decreases and more energy is absorbed by the snowpack. This paper examines the retrieval of snow albedo from the MISR and MODIS instruments over the Greenla...

Assessment of cloud supersaturation by size-resolved aerosol particle and cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) measurements

In this study we show how size-resolved measurements of aerosol particles and cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) can be used to characterize the supersaturation of water vapor in a cloud. The method was developed and applied during the ACRIDICON-Zugspitze campaign (17 September to 4 October 2012) at the high-Alpine research station Schneefernerhaus (German Alps, 2650 m a.s.l.). Number size distrib...
